Symposium digitaalisista aineistoista ja niiden jatkokäytöstä lokakuussa Rostockissa

Haluatko tutustua kirjastojen ja arkistojen uusiin ratkaisuihin digitaalisten aineistojen tuotannossa, käyttöönasettamisessa ja tutkimuskäytössä? Haluatko tutustua ja verkostoitua kirjastolaisiin ja arkistoalan ammattilaisiin Itämeren alueelta?

Bibliotheca Baltica – Itämeren alueen kirjastojen yhteenliittymä – järjestää aiheesta seminaarin lokakuussa Rostockissa (4. - 5.10.2018).

Seminaarissa tarkastellaan kirjastojen ja arkistojen digitaalisia aineistoja, niiden jatkokäyttöä tutkimuksessa, tekstintunnistuksen kehitystä sekä Digital Humanities -opetusta ja tutkimusta Itämeren alueella.

„Sharing the Sources: New Technologies for Libraries, Archives and Research Communities“

 You are invited to attend and participate in the 14th International Bibliotheca Baltica Symposium „Sharing the Sources: New Technologies for Libraries, Archives and Research Communities“ to be held in Rostock, Germany on 4-5 October 2018.

The Symposium, which is jointly organised by Bibliotheca Baltica, Rostock University Library and the Computational Intelligence Technology Lab of Rostock University, will bring together researchers working on information technology for heritage materials and professionals from the library and archive communities of the Baltic Sea Region to discuss cutting-edge approaches to digitizing cultural heritage.

Presentation sessions will focus on Research Data Services in Libraries and Archives, Archival Digitization Strategies, New Developments for National and Regional Cultural Heritage Portals, Text Recognition in Manuscripts and Prints and Teaching Digital Humanities.

Submissions are welcome for the poster session detailing original, early findings, works in progress and use cases in the fields of cultural heritage digitization and digital humanities. Poster proposals can be submitted via the conference website by 31 July 2018.

We are happy to announce that Kristian Jensen, The British Library, and Günter Mühlberger, University of Innsbruck, will deliver keynote addresses.

Further confirmed speakers include Ville Kajanne (National Archives of Finland), Andrea Hänger (German Federal Archives, Vice President), Christian Thomas (Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Science), Giedrė Čistovienė, (Martynas Mazvydas National Library of Lithuania), Kimmo Kettunen (National Library of Finland), Anda Baklāne (National Library of Latvia), Tomas Gruszkowski (National Library of Poland), Gerhard Müller (Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin / Kalliope Union Catalogue, DE), Uldis Bojārs (National Library of Latvia), Clemens Neudecker (Europeana Newspapers, Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin), Hannu Toivonen (University of Helsinki), Roger Labahn (University of Rostock), and further speakers from the READ (Recognition and Enrichment of Archival Documnets) Project.

Before the main conference, participants can take part in Transkribus workshops for text and layout recognition organised by CITLab.
