Hi,
My grandfather was a cavalryman during the Winter and Continuation Wars. He was also a cellist and a lover of philosophy and literature.
As a child, he introduced me to Kant and Kierkegaard (I was like 8, I had no idea what was going on), but he also introduced me to some fiction. One of the fictional stories was in a collection akin to the collections he had of his famous philosophers. I really don't remember the main plot - I remember that there was a ship that kept passing through the night, and I remember there was a repeated line like "every night the townspeople heard the sharpening of knives, and every morning they heard the dripping of blood." I really can't remember much else from the story, but I'm dying to know more about my ukki, so if this rings any bells for you, please let me know where to look.
Thank you.
